Dr Darryl Charles is a senior lecturer in computer science at Ulster University. His key interest is in Artificial Intelligence and Immersive Technologies. Over the past 25 years Dr Charles’ work has spanned computational intelligence in games, interactive cloud content streaming, intelligent interactive digital storytelling, procedural content generation, player profiling & and adaptive gameplay, and virtual reality based assistive health technologies. He has over 100 peer-reviewed papers published and has supervised sixteen PhD students to completion. His recent research project involvement as Co-Investigator includes the creative industry focused Future Screens NI (AHRC), Invest NI supported BT Ireland Innovation Centre, and two large scale EU Horizon 2020 pre-commercial procurement projects to develop home-based assistive technology products.
